Play resumes again
Following a 6-month hiatus due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, we are excited to announce that Howard Badminton Club is starting its Autumn 2020 season on 14th October 2020. We will be playing from a temporary venue, Howard of Effingham school sports centre, on our usual Wednesday evening club nights.
The club will be playing games in a revised safety format to minimise against the risks posed by Covid-19.
We are always looking for new members to join the club. If you are local to Effingham, Surrey, and are an intermediate or above badminton player, we would love to hear from you.

Annual General Meeting
In place of our usual in-person annual general meeting, the Club held its first ever virtual AGM on 22nd July using Zoom video conferencing in order to maintain and respect social distancing. The meeting went very successfully and was well attended by the club members.
The Club has welcomed the recent news from Badminton England that clubs around the country can start to return to play for both singles and doubles games from 25th July, and we hope to be able to resume play at Howard Badminton Club in September. More to come on this once we have finalised a start date and had a chance to fully digest the safety guidance published by Badminton England. We shall also update the membership fees on the website in due course once we have a start date announced for the season.

We are excited to showcase our newly designed website and web URL (www.howardbadminton.club). The new website has a modern look and feel, and contains lots of new photos that we hope you enjoy.
We always welcome feedback so would love to hear what you think of the new design, and suggestions of what you would like to see added to the website.
The site has been kindly developed by Andrew Hopkins, who is one of our club members.

On May 17th, Howard Badminton Club held a 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club. We were delighted to welcome our President and founding Chairman Peter Turner, as well as many past and present members.
The club was formed in 1969 and located in The Howard of Effingham School. Over the years, the club has changed venues including Downsend School (Leatherhead), St John’s School (Leatherhead) and City of London Freemen’s School (Ashtead). It now enjoys the excellent sport facilities at St Teresa’s school in Effingham.
